I recently acquired the Timbuk2 Aviator Backpack for my backpacking adventure around Europe. I needed a reliable backpack for two weeks travel. It needed to be versatile and robust, yet easy on the eye.
This is my experience of the Timbuk2 Aviator Travel wheeled backpack…
I was initially attracted to this pack because of its sleek design and strong straps that I thought would be really supportive and avoid any back strain or injury.

The backpack is high quality and I was happy to make the investment to ensure that my items, including my valuable laptop, would be protected.
When packing for my journey, it was evident how well this backpack was designed. I could unzip the compartments, which would completely expose the contents of both the large compartment and smaller compartment…
This was a fantastic feature because it allowed me to remove and add items neatly. I could also reach for items at the bottom of my backpack without disrupting my clothes.
See for yourself a closure look at this pack:
There is a secure and discrete padded laptop compartment, which allowed me to carry my laptop safely at all times. There are two concealed zip compartments that I felt confident enough store my passport, tickets and money in. These compartments were incredibly useful and easy to access.
The straps were sturdy and carried the weight of the backpack well. I also found that the hip belt was a helpful addition when travelling between destinations. When I offloaded my belongings at different hostels, I could detach the bulky hip belt and just use the shoulder straps to carry the smaller load for day trips.
The material of the Timbuk2 Aviator is strong and durable. Check out more specs here..
Despite carrying two weeks worth of clothes, toiletries and a laptop, I never worried that the material would rip or items would fall out. The size-able buckles help to strengthen the bag and were a great way to fasten the compartments when I was in a hurry.
My favorite feature is the versatile straps that can be completely removed to transform the backpack into a suitcase. This was very handy when traveling back on the plane because it made the bag less cumbersome when going through the scanner at customs and when storing it in the overhead locker of the plane.
My only qualm with the Timbuk2 Aviator is that the main compartment could have been slightly deeper in order to accommodate more items. However, it did prompt me to pack economically and allowed for the sleek design that others admired. Also, I will say I felt the pack to be a bit heavy without anything inside too… well coming from a buck 20 weighted female!
Overall, I would highly recommend this backpack. As you can see from the picture below it will fit just about everything you need, including my heels!
It was a reliable and trustworthy companion on my trip around Europe and fulfilled its duty as a robust and hard-wearing bag to store my things. The various compartments were helpful when keeping items separate and helped me to feel organized and confident when locating items.
The design of this backpack is not bulky and unattractive like many travel backpacks. The black color and slim lined design is suitable for men and women and I felt pretty proud to show it off.
If you would like a strong, versatile and accessible backpack for your trip, I would recommend the Timbuk2 Aviator Travel Backpack. As well as looking great, you can rest assured that your belongings will be kept dry and safe.
