Thanks for stopping by my About page! My name is Toki, and I run the site here: BestBackpacksGuide.com.
Every one at some point in their life has owned a backpack for something.
Whether it was for school, for your electronics, for travel, for the military or for moving to a new living place.
For me, when finding a backpack that was light AND comfortable came when I was first being deployed while serving in the Air Force. Back in 2000 is when I began my term and back in 2000 was when 9/11 happened. From that point on my military career was spent mostly traveling to various “classified locations.”
I learned real quick that having a backpack that was light, comfortable and the right size was VERY important. Military issue travel gear wasn’t meant for comfort but for survival. There is a ton of walking, standing and “hurry up and waiting!” So being a thin female and carrying that weight on my back for long periods of time wasn’t easy.
I found myself looking for a good backpack online while deployed, and what I found was A LOT of information and TONS of options! In fact, it was so much information, that I felt a bit overwhelmed. I wanted something where I could compare prices, ratings, backpack sizes, quality, and more in an easy to read and use format. Now, while there are a lot of lists or YouTube videos from people sharing what their opinions of what the best backpacks on the market are; I saw these as just that… opinions.
Being the analytical and practical person, I needed more.
I appreciate opinions, but I also like looking at the cold hard fact and comparing directly. Dissatisfied with the lack of comparison guides for the different types of backpacks out there, I decided to create my own. After spending many hours of research and analysis, I’ve put together what I call the Ultimate Backpacks Guide! Its a complete interactive chart that allows you to view the information you want to see on nearly 100 of the top backpacks in their respective category on the market.
So, I’m not a backpack hoarding junkie…yet! (I don’t think there is anyone out that has used every backpack on the market. And if they have, they are likely out enjoying their travels and life, rather than blogging about it). But I feel like I’ve provided a valuable resource based on the available information that is out running wild on the net.
My goal with the site here is to give you the information you need in an easy to digest format so that you can make the best possible backpack buying decision based on what matters to YOU. Yes, I’ll be providing my own opinions and input along the way, but when it comes right down to it, you might be more concerned with price versus whether it has a internal or external frame.
As I do more research, I’ll be providing in-depth reviews of backpacks, videos of me showing you live how they look, feel or fit… sharing other users reviews, and more comparative analysis.
In short, I hope my site here with help you find the best backpacks for you.
