The backpacking community is a tightly knit guild of men and women who think of their backpacks as more than just a extra arm or leg during an excursion – To us, backpacks are an essential part of a backpacker’s arsenal. And this community is absolutely stuffed with fantastic resources on backpacks, cases, bags and traveling in style. Here’s a sampling of our favorites. Please pay these guys and gals a visit!
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Tortuga Backpacks tops our list (not that it’s in any particular order, anyway). This is the quintessential website on all things Travel – from accommodations, to travel hacking, to packing, to travel technology, to (of course) the best backpacks. The Tortuga backpacks blog has been around since 2011 now, and they are the definite source on the art of traveling.
Reading through the Top Backpacking Destinations makes you feel like Wyatt Earp, which is saying a lot in terms of a high praise to give any website on travel destinations. One of the best things about this site, by far, is the community. The young buck that founded this site is a fun well versed traveler who will not hesitate to help you out!
Backpack Forever a non corporate and a no B.S. blog that will net you a metric ton of information any time you visit. But it’s not just information and travel guides… This site is driven by actual backpackers who walk the walk and have a knack for writing with incredible incision and insight, providing brilliant context to everything they publishes. This is a great spot for anyone who’s interested in the culture of traveling with a backpack as well as the technique.
The Travel Guru
One of the best things about The Travel Guru is the writing, which has a knack for engagement, humor and wit. This is a good site to visit just for fun; they cover lots of travel and backpacking stuff, of course, but they also occasionally branch out into the broader field of exotic places to visit. Plus, they have a great directory!
These two people are truly Divergent Travelers! Not sure what “divergent” means, neither did I until I looked it up. If you are living a life and not traveling, let this site be your inspiration and guide to the world outside of yours. Take that first step and at least read and then venture out of your comfort zone!
